M was out in the yard with the cat yesterday. Usually when he’s supervising the cat’s outside-time, he just trails around 5 paces behind the cat, reading the whole way. But yesterday the cat curled up on one of the lawn chairs, and M sat down next to him, and then the cat decided M’s lap looked even more appealing as a place to nap. So when we looked out the back window, this is what we saw:
M sat there, petting the cat and reading the book he’d set on the now-vacant lawn chair, for at least half an hour. When we went out to tell him supper was ready, he said he’d been catted, and was fine with staying out in the yard a while longer.
Usually M’s main goal when he’s out with the cat is to come in again as soon as possible. We suspect that last night, he was realizing that soon he’ll be leaving home, and spending months at a time away from the cat.
