It’s our 500th post here at Doorknobs That Lock, and pretty much from the beginning, our blog has been topped by the same photo. It taken on Spectacle Island, one of the Boston Harbor Islands, and is one of the most peaceful and serene spots we know. We spent a wonderful day last summer walking around there with my brother, when he had a break in between his latest two posts. We could see the accumulated stress from two years in war zones melt away as he walked around the tranquil island. It may be only a few miles off the Boston mainland, but it’s a world apart, and feels like a much kinder, gentler place.
And so I find it very touching that Krystle Campbell, one of the people who died in the Boston Marathon bombings, will be remembered by having the gazebo there (and seen in the photo above) dedicated in her name. May it bring her loved ones the same sense of tranquility it has brought to our family.
