M’s high school will be having a presentation for parents called “What were you thinking?!” that will explain how the teenage brain works. We decided not to attend the presentation because we already know the general answer to that question (“You weren’t thinking.”) But E looked up some info about the speaker, and found a reference to the same talk given elsewhere, and the speaker commented that the teenage brain is undergoing so many physical and mental changes that it’s like an unfinished basement under construction.
We both really liked that image. Especially since I just asked M to set a stick of butter on the counter to warm up so I can make pie crust later. And he replied, “Wait, so is a stick one stick, or is a stick the whole box?”
Yeah, that basement remodel has a way to go.
