We ran some errands this morning, including a trip to the local fabric and craft store. We wanted fabric for new curtains for our bedroom, since the old blue ones definitely do not match the recently-painted cream-yellow walls. We also wanted fabric for new curtains for the bathroom, since the old ones have developed mildew spots. M had also put in a request that we check out the craft section to see if anything might be a suitable birthday gift for his friend, the girl across the street.
Normally this is the kind of errand that could have taken us a while, holding up many assorted fabric bolts against paint chips, and dithering over shades of color, and scrutinizing the wide array of crafts for appeal to teenage girls.
And it could have taken even longer than usual because one of us has a bad head cold and is in that “my brain has been replaced by snot and I can’t even decide whether I want to wear long pants or shorts today” mode.
Fortunately, the other one of us is in that “I have PMS so I have no patience for dithering and I can decide anything in approximately 10 seconds” mode.
PMS-woman told snot-brain-woman to wear the long pants instead of the shorts, so we got out of the house efficiently. PMS-woman found two really appealing bolts of fabric in about 45 seconds each. Snot-brain-woman took the fabric to be cut and sorted out with the clerk how to cope with the fact it was the end of the bolt. Meanwhile PMS-woman scoped out the entire craft section, announced that all the crafts they had were too young for a teenage girl, and we were ready to go. Fastest fabric store trip ever.
