One more sign that E and I are just meant for each other: we both thought that the sound of snow hitting the oil tank as it was raked off the roof* was so cool that we commented on it simultaneously, and then decided to film it.
One more sign that I really need to get a new camera: the sound quality is fairly lousy and it took me 15 minutes of computer finagling to get the clip rotated and converted into a format that YouTube can cope with. But trust me, the original sound reminded us both of sands through an hourglass… in these, the wintry days of our lives.
* If you live in a warm enough climate to wonder why we’d rake snow off the roof, it’s a combination of the possibility that snow weight will cause the roof to collapse, and the possibility that melting snow will form an “ice dam” and make water start leaking into the house. In a normal winter, these haven’t been problems for us, but we’ve gotten about 2.5 feet of snow in a little over a week, and another big storm is predicted.
