–Evidently the local Jehovah’s Witnesses made a pass down our street today; there was a copy of “The Watchtower” tucked in the front door. It was the April 1st issue. (But presumably not an April Fools’ edition.) Are people’s religious beliefs really swayed by 8-month-old magazines randomly appearing on their doorsteps?
–When M and I started volunteering at the soup kitchen 5 years ago, we’d set places for 70 people for dinner. In summers, it dropped as low as 54. As the economy has worsened, we started routinely setting up for 80, then 90. I found out tonight that a couple weeks ago, 105 people showed up for dinner. Nice news, coming on top of today’s headlines that unemployment benefits are being ended and Republicans are determined not to pass a darn thing unless they get their tax cuts.
–E’s car spent the whole day in the shop yesterday, theoretically got fixed, then conked out again on her way to work today.
–The cat fusses at the front door because he wants to go out in the yard. When I show him that it’s pouring rain, he decides he doesn’t need to go out in the yard after all. Then he starts fussing at the back door.
